The Bay Area Chapter of Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) seeks to maximize the effectiveness of and professional opportunities for women in sociology; explore the contributions sociology can, does, and should make to the investigation and humanization of current gender arrangements; and create feminist social change.
We hold informal meetings 2-4 times per year where we encourage networking, mentoring, and collaboration. Based on interest, we sometimes sponsor an annual research symposium, develop writing groups and/or an annual writers retreat. All social scientists are welcome! There is no membership fee and no annual dues.
