Join Us
SWS has a long feminist practice of getting together, working together, learning from one another, and celebrating each other. The Winter Conference gives us a special space to share our scholarship and practice, connect around ongoing work, develop new collaborations, celebrate our accomplishments, and create space for new possibilities.
We also warmly welcome people whose work intersects with feminist sociology—from human rights, social justice, advocacy, policy, community organizations, higher education, philanthropy, and related fields. You do not need to present or belong to SWS to take part in the conference.
The 2027 conference theme—What If? / What Now?—invites us to step beyond the demands of the immediate moment and imagine what might become possible: for each of us in our own work and lives, for the communities and collaborations we build together, and for SWS as an organization in the world.
What if the conditions that help feminist scholarship, careers, communities, and organizations flourish were things we could more deliberately shape? What are we already doing that deserves more room to flourish? What are we learning from one another? What possibilities emerge when we gather our experiences, questions, research, and ideas in one place?
And from there: What now? What do these possibilities help us see more clearly about our work, our institutions, and our collective life? What might we carry forward, develop, or put into practice—in our own work, with one another, or through SWS?
We hope you will come with whatever you are bringing right now—completed research, work in progress, an idea, a question, experience to share, curiosity about what others are doing, or simply the desire to spend time in feminist community.
