WERKshop Application is Now Open Till August 11 – Collaborative Learning Space By & For First Gen Femmes of Color in Graduate Programs Studying Race, Queer Theory, Media and Technology

The WERKshop is supported by the SWS Social Action Committee; Lauren Garcia, a co-founder, received a Social Actions Initiatives Award in Summer 2021 to help materialize this important project.

The WERKshop application is now open! The WERKshop is a collaborative learning space by and for first gen femmes of color in graduate programs studying race, queer theory, media and technology. Think of the application as an informal “getting to know you” form. Our goal is to provide an interdisciplinary group where you can get feedback, help with methods, accountability on reading or writing, talk through ideas and concepts, or just vent about being in academia with other people who understand the struggle. We want to co-create this space with you.

Please feel free to fill out the application at bit.ly/werkshopapp and/or share the attached call with your networks. The deadline is August 11th, and we plan to release a full schedule based on participant feedback by the 18th. If you have any questions, comments, concerns or suggestions, feel free to email Lauren at tmk7cw@virginia.edu.
