Membership Engagement Form

Thank you for your interest in joining Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS).

This form is for:

• people joining SWS for the first time; and
• former SWS members whose membership expired more than one year ago.

If you are a current SWS member or recently lapsed member who simply needs to renew, please use the regular Join/Renew SWS process.

SWS is a feminist professional association bringing together sociologists and others committed to feminist scholarship, teaching, advocacy, policy, community engagement, and social change.

We ask new and returning members to complete this short Membership Engagement Form so that we can learn a little about you, your work, and your interest in the SWS community.

What happens after you submit this form?

SWS will review your membership submission and respond within 2–3 business days.

You will be asked to provide payment information when you submit the form, but your card will not be charged while your membership is under review.

If your membership is approved, your membership will be activated and the applicable membership dues will be charged to the payment method you provided. You will receive an email confirming your membership and explaining how to access SWS member benefits.

If you are joining in connection with the 2027 SWS Winter Conference, once your membership is approved and active you can return to the conference registration page and register at the member rate associated with your membership category.

SWS membership follows the calendar year. Memberships beginning after October 1 extend through December 31 of the following calendar year. If you join between October 1 and December 31, 2026, your membership will remain active through December 31, 2027.

Your responses will be used for membership review, onboarding, and engagement purposes. SWS will not share your responses publicly without your permission.

Please keep narrative responses to approximately 100 words or fewer.
